UIN Maliki is Grand Launching of Campus 3

CAMPUS, Malangpost.idUIN Maliki , Thursday 17 March 2022 became a Grand in the history of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim (UIN Maliki Malang) Development. Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, Deputy Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Yahya Hasan Alqahtany, and CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) Sultan bin Abdulrahman Almarshad attended the ground breaking ceremony to start the construction of the campus 3 UIN Malang in Batu City.

The Rector of UIN Malang, Prof. Dr. M. Zainuddin, MA, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia for his strategic policies in the development of Islamic education, spreading Islamic moderation in Indonesia, and his support in the development of the university.

Furthermore, the Rector also expressed his gratitude to the Embassy of the Saudi Arabia Kingdom for special attention to the essential cooperation between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia and thanked SFD for this great project (Campus 3 Construction). The Rector hoped that it would run well from the beginning to the end.

In addition, the Rector apologized for the delay in implementing this project because it had to adjust to government policies dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. However, UIN Malang continued to work on this project because it has become the University’s priority program.

The Rector emphasized that UIN Malang, from the beginning, has been committed to its vision of becoming a remarkable University with an international reputation by the concept of integrating science and Islam. Integration means that all activities are based on the teachings and values of the Islamic faith (derived from Al-Quran and Sunnah).

UIN Malang provides students with University’s Islamic boarding or Ma’had. Students learn and memorize the Al-Quran, Hadith, Arabic, sciences, and other Islamic values and attitudes of religious moderation. UIN Malang became the first campus in Indonesia to integrate the university and Ma’had systems.

Besides, it teaches Arabic to all the university students from various majors. By learning the Arabic language, students can directly access the

knowledge of Islamic thoughts written in Arabic and be able to read the sources in the Arabic language, Al-Qur’an, and Sunnah.

According to the data, UIN Malang host international students from 32 different countries, including Saudi Arabia. The number of active students registered at UIN Maliki Malang is totalling around 19,500 students consisting of Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral programs. Although there are approximately 120,000 prospective students who register to study at UIN Malang annually, the university can only accept around 3,700 students due to the limited Ma’had and teaching-learning buildings. Therefore, this SFD development project is very significant and beneficial for UIN Malang to accommodate and accept a larger number of students in the future.

UIN Malang cooperates with Saudi Arabia to build an internationally- standardized campus. This campus has a long history of cooperation with Saudi Arabia in education and Hajj pilgrimage services. UIN Malang has been a successful model of the campus development in the Southeast Asian Region in its collaboration with the Islamic Development Bank of Saudi Arabia. Currently, the University development collaborates with the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) of Saudi Arabia, hoping to become a great pilot project for campus development in Asia.

The present grand launching of construction focuses on some buildings, namely the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences Building, Research and Data Center Building, learning-teaching Building, mosque, Laboratories, and Ma’had, all of which form one word, ‘Ar-Rahim’ in Arabic script. It is a one-word part of the overall development of the campus building series, shaping the Arabic phare of “Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.”

“Hopefully, the cooperative relationship between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia will remain strong, and I believe this project can run well, as a precious reward to all parties contributinh to the development of this campus,” concluded the professor from Bojonegoro.
