Berawal dari Arie Kriting yang mengungkapkan ketidaksetujuannya terhadap Nagita Slavina menjadi ikon wanita Papua, dengan mengangkat narasi ‘cultural appropriation‘,saat melansir CNN Indonesia, Senin, (7/6).
Cultural appropriation sendiri merupakan adopsi elemen budaya atau identitas dari budaya atau identitas lain. Dalam hal ini, Arie Kriting berharap yang menjadi ikon PON Papua adalah orang Papua.
“Sebenarnya saya sejak awal sudah merasa ada yang janggal dengan hal ini, tetapi saya menunggu tanggapan dari saudara-saudari asli Papua terkait dengan ini. Penunjukan Nagita Slavina sebagai Duta PON XX Papua ini memang pada akhirnya dapat mendorong terjadinya Cultural Appropriation. Seharusnya sosok perempuan Papua, direpresentasikan langsung oleh perempuan Papua,” tulis Arie pada Jumat (04/06).
Ternyata, kegundahan hati Arie Kriting ini mendapat simpati publik. Sebagian besar netizen merasa janggal dengan keputusan tersebut
Misi Sosialisasi PON XX Papua 2021
Panitia Besar Pekan Olahraga Nasional (PB PON) Yunus Wonda juga angkat bicara soal polemik penunjukan Nagita Slavina dan Raffi Ahmad sebagai ikon PON XX Papua 2021.
Ia mengatakan, penunjukan influencers ibu kota merupakan misi sosialisasi PON XX Papua 2021 tak lain untuk menggaungkan PON Papua. Tujuannya agar pesta olahraga di Indonesia Timur ini lebih terdengar.
“Saya ingin sampaikan kepada kita semua kepada masyarakat Indonesia dan Papua ini, yang terpenting dari event besar ini adalah bagaimana kami sebagai tuan rumah menyiapkan diri kami menyambut tamu-tamu yang akan datang ke Papua, itu fokus kami,” katanya kepada wartawan.
Kemenpora Tegaskan Tidak Ikut Campur Dalam Penunjukan Ikon PON 2021
Selain itu, Menteri Pemuda dan Olahraga (Menpora) Zainudin Amali menegaskan bahwa Kemenpora tak ikut campur dalam penunjukan Raffi Ahmad dan Nagita Slavina sebagai ikon PON 2021 di Papua.
“Ini publik harus tahu karena keputusan tentang penunjukan ikon PON itu bukan oleh pemerintah pusat, Menpora, apalagi dikait-kaitkan dengan presiden. Kami tidak tahu. Ini sepenuhnya keputusan PB PON yang ketuanya Gubernur Papua,” kata Amali.
“Memang, reaksi yang muncul ada putra putri Papua yang seharusnya dimunculkan. Saya kira ini aspirasi yang perlu dibahas. Saya akan bicara dengan PB PON agar mempertimbangkan lagi, karena ini bisa menjadi kontroversi yang berkepanjangan,” ujarnya.
