Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi adalah tiga kewajiban yang ada dalam perguruan tinggi. Tiga kewajiban yang dimaksud adalah menyelenggarakan pendidikan, penelitian, dan pengabdian kepada masyarakat.
Minggu depan, tim Program Holistik Pembinaan dan Pemberdayaan Desa (PHP2D) 2021 Himpunan Mahasiswa Teknik Kimia ITN Malang akan melaksanakan salah satu Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi yaitu pengabdian kepada masyarakat.
Tim ini akan membantu warga Desa Panggungrejo, Gondanglegi, Kabupaten Malang dalam memaksimalkan hasil perkebunan jeruk jenis jeruk peras. Tim PHP2D 2021 Himpunan Mahasiswa Teknik Kimia ITN Malang ini beranggotakan 14 orang mahasiswa yang dipimpin oleh Zabilla Wulandayani sebagai ketua tim.

“Potensi yang masih dimiliki terletak pada bidang perkebunan jeruk dengan jenis jeruk yaitu jeruk peras. Desa Panggungrejo memiliki lahan perkebunan dan pekarangan yang subur tetapi belum dikelola secara maksimal. Biasanya setelah dipanen jeruk langsung dijual di pasaran tanpa dimanfaatkan untuk menjadi produk yang lain, sehingga potensi pada hasil pasca panen jeruk tidak dapat dioptimalkan dengan baik. Padahal bagian-bagian jeruk seperti daging jeruk daging jeruk segar maupun daging jeruk busuk dan kulitnya dapat diolah menjadi produk yang bernilai ekonomis.”jelas Zabilla
Tim PHP2D 2021 Himpunan Mahasiswa Teknik Kimia ITN Malang, ingin membantu warga Desa Panggungrejo dalam mengolah jeruk mulai dari daging sampai limbah kulitnya. Mereka akan mengajarkan warga desa untuk mengolah daging jeruk segar menjadi permen jeli. Serta daging jeruk busuk beserta kulit yang tidak layak menjadi pupuk organik cair.
Tidak hanya itu, warga desa akan dibimbing untuk mengolah limbah kulit jeruk yang dapat dijadikan sebagai lilin aromaterapi dan dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai energi baru dan terbarukan yaitu bioethanol.
Harapan dari program dapat bermanfaat dan bisa diterapkan berkelanjutan
Sebelumnya, warga desa ini kurang pelatihan mengenai peningkatan kemampuan usaha warga. Sehingga Tim PHP2D dari ITN berusaha membantu dengan pelatihan pengolahan jeruk dan limbahnya tersebut, yang nantinya juga akan diajarkan mengenai cara pemasaran, salah satunya melalui e-commerce.
Kegiatan pengabdian ini juga akan melibatkan dosen yang ahli di bidangnya. Setiap anggota tim pun telah melakukan persiapan yang matang. Teknik Kimia ITN terbagi dalam 4 konsentrasi, yaitu teknik bahan makanan, pengolahan limbah, energi terbarukan, dan minyak atsiri.

Oleh karena itu, setiap konsentrasi akan memiliki program masing-masing dalam kegiatan ini. Konsentrasi yang dimaksud seperti konsentrasi teknik bahan makanan akan mendampingi warga desa dalam membuat permen jeli.
